Want to understand how to submit news tips or share an area event/classified on Patch Bloomfield? It’s easier than you think!

At Patch, we believe that local news and information have the energy to unite a community. We also believe in giving neighbors the power to inform their own stories and help keep each other informed about what’s happening at the local level.

There are a few various ways to reach out.

News tips and pr announcements can be sent to your local Patch editor. Tips/releases for Bloomfield, NJ could be sent to [email protected]
Including small attachments is okay, but PLEASE include all important info directly in the body of one’s email (so it could be easily “cut and pasted”).
Add a single, high-quality photo or image (preferred format is a .jpg). Tell us who we should credit for the photo (you need to own the rights or have permission to use it for a news article).
Because of high volumes of submissions, it isn’t always possible to create all releases or respond individually ? but we try our best!

Post a Neighbor Post

The Neighbor Posts section is really a community forum and social platform made to connect you to other neighbors ? together with Patch reporters, local officials, nonprofits, businesses and experts in your area.

Once you post in this section, your post can look at the top of the Neighbor Posts page. If it receives enough attention and engagement, it may likewise appear on the homepage for your community or in an email sent to local readers.

You can also answer any other posts you see on Patch, to greatly help reply to your neighbors’ questions and take part in local discussions. We encourage neighbors to come together to help each other understand their community better ? because Patch reporters can’t catch everything, and it takes a village to help keep track of what’s happening on the floor.

Always remember to help keep your posts and replies local, clean, friendly and factual, commensurate with the Patch Community Guidelines. Also to make Patch an improved place for neighbors, please flag any other posts or replies that don’t follow these rules.

When you publish an article on Patch, it will be labeled as “Neighbor News” and will show up in the Neighbor Posts portion of your home community. If your local Patch editor sees fit, they can also elect to share it with nearby communities or include it within an email to readers.

Adding your event to the Patch Community Calendar is a wonderful way to boost attendance and let neighbors know about fun stuff happening near them. If finished . you’re posting about includes a date and time, it should always be posted as an event.

Once posted, your event can look in the main Calendar section for your community, and sometimes in other event preview sections across Patch and in emails to readers. To boost your listing and give it extra visibility, you can also pay to promote it as “Featured” across the region for $1 each day per community. (Plus, your money can help support more local journalism in the communities you value!)

The Classifieds section serves as an area marketplace where you could sell or hand out your stuff, search for work, find roommates or tenants and make other local business announcements.

Once posted, your classified will appear in the main Classifieds section for the community, and sometimes in other preview sections across Patch and in emails to readers. Interested parties can use a contact form which will appear within your post to email you directly about your offer.
